...Billings has run in several races. Billings won in the fast time of 10 1-2 seconds. Next came the mile walk for freshmen, which was contested by Bemis and Shattuck. Bemis led throughout and won easily, as his opponent seemed to weaken near the finish. The time, 4 min., 47 sec., was the best which has been made at Harvard for some years...
...stable roofs and the windows of the Beacon street houses, each held a considerable gathering of interested spectators. Among them were many ladies, who, with their bright dresses and parasols made a pretty sight. Many carriages were also scattered along the road from the Long-wood bridge to the finish. Our annuals compel us to finish the games as early as possible. The second game, if played on the 24th, will be a financial success, as the park will be used by us alone and the receipts are sure to be large. The terms are, I think, fairly enough, one-half gate receipts, and one-half expenses at all games,-net receipts...
