...collection of fish in the Stanford University Museum has recently had added to it a specimen of lampris guttatus, or moonfish, of the dolphin family. These fish are very rarely secured as specimens although in the waters about Madeira they are tolerably numerous. The reason why they are so difficult to secure is because their habits are pelagic and they appear only singly near the coasts.
