Thomas Hart Benton, the "GrassRoots Giant," is reduced to an artistic pygmy by the time Robert Hughes has finished [Feb. 3]. It is sad that of all Benton's outstanding works, Hughes deems it fit to mention only The Jealous Lover of Lone Green Valley because it contains a portrait of ex-Pupil Jackson Pollock.
