...tennis tournament yesterday no matches in singles were played. The doubles, however, were narrowed down to eight pairs, leaving three more rounds to be played. The semi-final round in singles will be played this afternoon at 2.30 o'clock, the matches being for the best three out of five sets, all deuce sets being played out. Nine graded crews, four from the Weld and five from the Newell, are now rowing every afternoon in preparation for the fall graded races, which will be rowed up-stream from the Union Boat Club to Longwood Bridge on November 2. The work of all these crews is still crude, most of the men having the usual faults of rushing their slides and hanging back at the finish. The Weld crews are being coached by Rice and those at the Newell by Vail and M. R. Brownell...
