...driving a big rig. And manicures. And blogging. The man who wrote "Ohio" - one of the most biting protest songs rock 'n' roll has ever offered - whose emotive tenor voice helped thousands of young baby boomers struggling to understand their country, is now writing lyrics about his flat-screen TV. "Got it repo'd now," he sings in a video he posted to the Huffington Post. "Missed the Raiders game...
...White Company. Quite naturally, the dynasty flourished. The eldest, Henriette, a painter in her own right, is married to Painter Hurd. Most eccentric of the children is Carolyn, now 54, who gallivants about in a flat black Gaucho hat, paints and teaches art classes. Sister Ann, 48, turned to music, but married one of N.C.'s students, John McCoy, and stayed on in Chadds Ford. "I got the builders who worked on my flat addicted to jasmine and white silver tip," she laughs. "And I've even persuaded London taxi drivers to take tea instead of money...
...hotel's philosophy, Hiscock says, is to give guests something a little different from the minibar-and-flat-screen experience so familiar from their business trips. Which means no minibar chilling tiny bottles of vodka and $5 peanuts, just an "honesty fridge" stuffed with San Miguel, lemon sodas and ice cream. No bells-and-whistles entertainment system, but a TV discreetly placed in each room and a library of children's DVDs to choose from. And in the restaurant, no culinary chemistry of foams or jus, just a beautifully simple $42 four-course dinner that makes liberal...
