...That Easy”— which ironically may be the best song on “Soldier of Love”—reveals the album’s deepest flaw. Despite an improvement in dynamic songwriting, the overly processed instruments and production which, in context of the stronger songwriting, is overbearing, keep the song from reaching the emotional peaks for which it aspires. A smoky upright bass pattern lightly supports the Sunday-afternoon strumming of the laconic acoustic and the waves of organ that sweep through the wide-open spaces of the song like wind...

...political observers say it is not only Hutchison's Washington ties that are affecting the polls but also the campaign she has run. "The fatal flaw has been this sense of entitlement," says Harvey Kronberg, editor of the Austin-based Quorum Report, a political newsletter that chronicles Texas politics. Case in point: "I am coming home to give leadership to Texas," Hutchison has said in numerous interviews across the state, noting that she stepped aside from making a bid to be the state's 48th governor to allow Perry to run for another term in 2006. ...crucial flaw in this argument, and the reason why Prop 8 is such a threat to Loving, is that the Virginia courts didn’t believe that interracial marriage was “marriage”  either. Marriage is a divine institution, wrote the Virginian judge that originally gave the Lovings their sentence, and God “placed [separate races] on separate continents,” in order to demonstrate that He did “not intend for [them] to mix.” In Naim v. Naim (1955), the Virginia Supreme Court similarly argued...

Ever since softball had first been introduced into the Olympics in 1996, the US had won three of the first four gold medals, leading many to believe that a sport so dominated by one country had no place in an international competition. This logic represents a flaw in the management of Olympic sports. The goal of the games is to bring the world and its greatest athletes together, not to remove sports that have been won almost exclusively by a single country. In the 2008 games, China swept all three medals of the table tennis tournaments, and yet no action...

...Still, some engineers question how a webcam even made it onto the market with this seemingly glaring flaw. "It's surprising HP didn't get this right," says Bill Anderson, president of Oculis Labs in Hunt Valley, Md., a company that develops security software that uses face recognition to protect work computers from prying eyes. "These things are solvable." Case in point: Sensible Vision, which develops the face-recognition security software that comes with some Dell computers, said their software had no trouble picking up the black employee's face when they tested the YouTube video...
