...NMFS acknowledges that the fleet this year is already approaching its limit. "If the killing continues at the present rate," says Charles Fullerton, director of the agency's Southwest region, "the fleet will reach that (number) in September." Pressured by the environmentalists on one side and the tuna fishers on the other, the agency is still debating its next step...

Environmental groups insist that the kill rate is higher than even the Fisheries Service's estimate. For their part, the tuna fishermen dispute both Greenpeace's and the NMFS's kill estimates, claiming that Fisheries Service observers, who are assigned to only some of the 29 boats in the fleet, have incorrectly extrapolated their data. As the irrepressible Prince William ran toward the carriage, an unusually fleet- footed Queen hurried to retrieve him. Meanwhile, on their joyride, the couple's unlikely chaperone was a gift from the royal family, a four-foot-tall teddy bear. At the back of their carriage, under a home made replica of a satellite dish, was a message that advised, PHONE HOME...

...Lords believe in rock not only as a means of rhythmic release but also as a vehicle of conscience. Their songs are fleet enough to get an audience moving and tough enough to make them stop and think once the beat lets go. Scott Kempner plays a hard guitar, writes most of the Del-Lords' material and takes his lead vocals on songs the way a pistolero goes for his gun. Listen to him talk, and it quickly becomes clear that he wants the audience to share the band's life-or-death dedication to the music. "We're doing...
