...Clay personally," said Floyd, "but I want to give the title back to America." That meant taking it away from the Black Muslims, and they did not want to let go of any thing. Clay's cold-eyed Muslim body guards even tried to rough up Nat Fleischer, the grand old editor of Ring magazine when he approached Clay outside the arena ("Take your hands off that man!" stammered Cassius. "He's my friend...

...middle of the ring. Unable to pull Cassius away, Referee Jersey Joe Walcott, who seemed even more confused than the spectators, gave up and walked away. He never got Clay to a neutral corner; he never picked up the count. Another eight seconds passed. At ringside Nat Fleischer, editor of The Ring and high priest of boxing, screamed at Walcott: "The bum is out! The fight is over! The fight is over!" Walcott nodded, turned back-only to discover that Liston had managed to get on his feet. At that point, Joe grabbed Cassius' arm and hoisted it high...

High-level argument about tektites and impactites has hung on for years, but at last week's New York meeting of the Geological Society of America, Drs. Robert L. Fleischer and P. Buford Price of General Electric Co. produced some of the first hard facts about them. Using a new dating method, the G.E. scientists proved that most tektites were formed either 34 million, 15 million or 700,000 years ago, and that known deposits of impactites have the same three ages...

Three Hits. Why should tektites and impactites have the same ages? One explanation, think Fleischer and Price, is that when very large meteors hit the moon they do more than splash out molten moon-rock that falls to earth as small, harmless tektites. They also detach large chunks of the lunar crust heavy enough to blast craters and form impactite when they hit the earth's surface. This has happened, the scientists think, at least three times in rather recent geological history. And they suspect that a lot of moon-stuff will be found on earth as soon...

...story has its lapses and the film its faults. Actor Quinn, though generally effective, sometimes sounds more like a punk out of Cicero than a hood from the Holy Land. And Director Richard Fleischer, impelled by Producer Dino de Laurentiis, has wasted time on spectacle that had more usefully been spent on theme Even so, the film is continuously alive and what keeps it alive is the burning sincerity of its search for the reality of God and the meaning of the hero's singular and apocalyptic life...
