Bumpers' campaign style is awesome, even in the tall-tale-loving, flesh-pressing South. He did not just shake a voter's hand and pass on. He was careful to stick to his political ground rules: never attack an opponent, never start an argument, never take a stand on an issue when it can be avoided...
