...Governors of four states were sojourning in the city of Wall Street and Broadway, and by preference chose to spend their time and money on Broadway. They were present at the opening. The comedian Julius Tannen, informed of their presence, dragged them up on the stage. Governor Martin of Florida, a broad-shouldered young husky, was first up, trying to look beneficent. Governor McMullen of Nebraska followed, very serious, worried. Governor Trapp of Oklahoma was grandiose in evening clothes. Governor Smith of New York was last up, grinning and apparently finding it great sport-being more used to such manners...
