...Jersey Coast might be described as a vision of the archetypal summer sea. Vast and lonely, the painting is devoid of human life. Gently lapping breakers touch the shore, and on the far horizon is a lone ship. On a small patch of beach a gull inspects some flotsam. The ocean is the Atlantic, but it could just as easily be the Indian, the Pacific, or Homer's wine-dark Aegean...
Cultural Carpetbagger. In his unique and cheerful way, Author Desani is a one-man tower of Babel, a cultural carpetbagger who hawks the flotsam and jetsam of at least five civilizations and three continents, with odd lots of Latin, Shakespeare and the Bible thrown in. The Aussies were taking it all in stride. Last weekend, some 2,500 of them happily trooped out to Little Bay and plunked down the modest 20? admission to see what this artist named Christo had wrought...
...will say further that if the Scorpion did go down along this route, her flotsam and jetsam would undoubtedly have been lost amid the garbage that we sighted. JOHN K. HOBBS Lieutenant, U.S.N. F.P.O. New York...
