The flower mentioned in Isaiah 35:1 ("and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose") must have been a bulbous plant, probably a narcissus; the original Hebrew word for it means "bulb." Amolsch's life has always centered around government payrolls. The son of a naval man, he went through grade school and a year at Commerce High in New York City before he had to quit and take a job.
