In the boardroom or the law office, such rules are not flouted, never mind broken. They are nudged gently. The fold of a handkerchief in the breast pocket of a suit jacket, the width of a stripe on a shirt, a print on a pair of bright suspenders: these are the permissible talismans of individuality. But, yes, Bo's certainly right: There are fans now sporting scarlet hose who, only yesterday, were loyalists of the Tribe, or the fish, or even-as I've just speculated-the Yanks. It's good to be king, and it's good to be a winner, and it's good to travel along with the kings and winners...

Harold M. Agnew's elbows make a pair of wings for his head, on top of which his hands fold in a clasp. The elbows are covered by suede patches sewn onto a brown tweed jacket. The collar of his brown polo shirt is worn over the jacket collar. There is a Western-style belt of silver and turquoise, and something of a belly: the paunch of a man of 64 who was an athlete 40 years ago. He looks like Spencer Tracy now. Last week's SIGGRAPH attendees got a taste of that insight during a 3-min. film sequence, produced at Lawrence Livermore Labs, that showed in a few seconds what biology teachers have labored for years to make clear: the precise mechanism by which molecules of DNA fold upon themselves to form thick strands of chromosomes.
