Less famously, in a '94 concert on MTV, Dylan plugged out, giving the alt-rock generation an intimate acoustic look at his musical mastery. That concert, MTV Unplugged, will be released this week on DVD for the first time, along with four extra songs--including his classic Desolation Row--that weren't in the original TV broadcast. --By Christopher John Farley
When I listen to a jazz or classical record (or a folk record—not that I have more than two) it hardly matters how loud it is. As a recording it’s already a second-degree experience of the musicianship, without the spontaneity or theatricality of the performance. Harvard’s premier all-female choir presents their spring concert, dubbed “Sacred Works and Folk Songs.” Conducted by Katherine Fitzgibbon, the choir will sing works by Rachmaninoff, Lasso, Dienes, Byrd, and Jameson Marvin (Harvard’s Director of Choral Activities). Tickets $14 regular, $7 students and seniors. 8 p.m. Lowell Lecture Hall...

Seriously, the band has some fine musicians and competent vocalists, and they come across as very polished. I bet they’d do a rockin’ rendition of “The House of the Rising Sun,” but there?...
...both became involved with Ghungroo as freshman; Charitha had received classical dance training for several years and performed in the Raas (Gujrati folk dance) and despite his own dancing ‘prowess,’ Deip decided to try his hand at light managing for the show. Ghungroo was such an incredible experience for the both of us that we returned the following year, with Charitha as Assistant Director and Deip as Technical Director. Junior year we were both only able to dance, but we were very excited to return to the helm of the show for our senior...
