Hormone Expert Dr. S. J. Folley of the British National Institute for Research in Dairying has announced successful results from experiments to get milk in large quantities from virgin goats. Ordinarily goats do not give milk until they have kidded. But kidding involves energy-consuming gestatory processes which slow milk production and may be undesirable in wartime. Dr. Folley causes virgin goats to develop udders and commence giving milk by treating them with the synthetic hormones diethylstilbestrol and hexestrol.
