Sale charged that Connally had not only accepted but had actually solicited the money from Lawyer Jake Jacobsen, who was a go-between for the Associated Milk Producers Inc., the nation's largest dairy cooperative. Patterson's film might really show a Sasquatch. But footprints seem to be stronger evidence, though still at the level of unexplained events--not positive proof of anything. Here the Sasquatch comes off better than other legendary wild mountain men. Napier claims he can explain in terms of other animals all but one footprint attributed to the Himalayan yeti, the original Abominable Snowman. Most Bigfoot prints, on the other hand, are still a mystery...

...Landlord is the first film by Hal Ashby, a former film editor for Director Norman Jewison. Ashby seems to have picked up Jewison's stylistic slickness, which is stamped all over the movie like a muddy footprint. One Landlord love scene consists of almost nothing but enormous closeups of lips and hands against a glaring white background. Ashby and Scenarist William Gunn make things easy on themselves throughout by portraying the tenants as a group of whimsical, life-loving characters out of The Time of Your Life; Elgar's snooty family is caricatured with pig-bladder subtlety...
