His hefty book, Abortion: The Myths, the Realities, and the Arguments (Corpus, $12.50; paperback, $6.95), is chiefly valuable as a contemporary exposition of the traditional Roman Catholic stand against all abortions. Grisez concedes only that the law need not forbid abortion in the classic case of saving a mother's life (even the strictest U.S. laws have generally allowed that exception) and possibly in a pregnancy due to rape.
