...Rice 1G., president of the Chess Club has sent a formal challenge proposing an international match to each of the presidents of the Oxford and Cambridge chess clubs. At the recent meeting of the representatives of Yale, Columbia, Princeton and Harvard at the Intercollegiate Chess Tournament Rice was appointed to make arrangements for the match. Owing to the absence of any official, previous to Rice's appointment, properly commissioned to arrange the match there has been some delay in sending the challenge. The challenge is sent in behalf of Yale, Columbia, Princeton and Harvard to the universities of Oxford...
