...important additions to the collection of mediaeval German sculpture have recently been installed in the Germanic Museum. These are full-sized reproductions of the bronze gates of the Augsburg Cathedral and of the crucifixion group from the church of Wechselburg, in Saxony. The former belong to the middle of the eleventh century, and are important evidence of the progress of technique in German plastic art after its beginnings in the Hildesheim School.
