Sociologist Thomas Luckmann of Frankfurt University predicted that eventually the categories of "belief" and "unbelief" will disappear. "A particular form of religion, institutional specialization, is on the wane," he contended, and as it goes, the distinctions between believers and nonbelievers will fade.
