An error by Rainbolt allowed McCall to reach first, while Jaffray scored. Dibblee made a pretty drive over third base which, aided by his drawing the throw at second, enabled three more men to cross the plate. With one out and Cochrane on first, Nowell flied to Rainbolt...
...struck out the next two men. For the rest of the game, 1900 was helpless at the bat and the contest was decidedly one-sided. '99 was kept from making more than one run in the fifth by the clever work of Edmunds and Foster who caught two men off bases, but there was no chance for the fielders in the last innings, the game resolving itself into a pitcher's contest...
