There were fliers from the ’50s advertising debates on nuclear weapons (again!), Richard Nixon as president, the abolition of the House Un-American Activities Committee, the treatment of the Irish by the British government. There were fraying newspapers mentioning old national champions. There was even a form sent by the secretary of the Debate Council, in 1947, to other universities for the purpose of organizing the next year?...
