CORRECTIONS The boys were given too much credit last week when this column incorrectly stated that all-male investment clubs had beaten the S&P 500 by 0.56% in a recent study; Brown University researchers found that male groups actually trailed the index by that figure. As reported, though, mixed-gender groups beat the S&P handily. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Monday that its review of the outbreak ?- identified at first as St. Louis encephalitis ?- has determined that at least one of the deaths was caused by the West Nile virus, found only in Africa and Asia. Like the St. Louis version, the virus is carried by birds and transfers to humans via mosquito bites.
