This statuette is a replica of the Mannekan Fountain which was erected in 1648 and was the work of Duquesnvy, an Italian sculptor. It was paid for by a rich citizen of Brussels, Belgium, in honor of the finding of the citizen's small son who was lost for a period of five days.
