Died. William T. Piper, 89, light-plane pioneer whose ubiquitous Piper Cubs put flying within reach of thousands and earned him the sobriquet "Henry Ford of aviation"; of heart disease; in Lock Haven, Pa. Piper's first Cubs lifted off the airstrip in 1931. Though slow, drafty and frail, they were easy to fly and, more important, cost only $1,325. By 1940, four out of every five pilots had learned to fly in Cubs; after World War II, thousands were sold to weekend flyers, starting a light-plane boom that has now grown to $425 million annually. Momentary Glow. Gibbon got off to an unlikely start to be historian of anything. Until he was in his teens, he was so frail that his father, Edward Gibbon, gave the name Edward to several succeeding sons-just in case. By his own account, young Gibbon "swallowed more Physic than food," had a "strange nervous affection" in his legs, and was bitten by "a dog most vehemently suspected of madness...

Now she is bringing her sense of identification to the screen in the title role of 20th Century-Fox's forthcoming film version of Myra. Not since Cleopatra has a movie provoked so much gossip, speculation, expectation?and guerrilla war?even before going into production...
...Jagger is slight, almost frail," wrote TIME Correspondent David Whiting, "and in a howling, Dixie-rag voice he calls out, 'Hi, y'aaalll.' The crowd erupts. The Stones launch into Jumpin' Jack Flash, the guitars driving. Jagger stretching out the syllables, howling notes much like the old Bob Dylan. At the end he cries, 'Are you having a good time?' The bad guy trying to please. Then Carol, bop-bop-bop-bop, a great oldie, good times at the record hop all over again. Jagger leaps about the stage, smirking, jerking, prancing, shooting pelvic...
