A onetime Congregational minister forced into retirement by illness, he made a small fortune with his regional photographs and sketches, turned them out for nearly 35 years, produced the wide-selling "States Beautiful" books (Vermont Beautiful, New Hampshire Beautiful, etc.). In the meantime he grew to be a recognized authority on American antiques, bought and sold them, once got $20,000 from J. P. Morgan for a Colonial cupboard...
This lineup has been used in the first two matches, an 8 1/2 to 6 1/2 loss to Framingham and an 8 1/2 to 1/2 win over Rhode Island State. Some changes may be made however because Coach Hodder might want to find room for Sophomore Nied Tuckerman, in addition, player manager Ted Allis (Bill Allis' nephew) and Bob Paine are not out of the running; either might conceivably, break into the first six. Coach Clark Hodder struck the telling blows which sent his own Crimson golf team down to an 81/2 to 61/2 defeat at the hands of the Framingham Country Club outfit on a windswept Framingham course yesterday afternoon. Hodder played number three for Framingham, nosed out Gerry Davis 2-1, and combined with Lord to win the best ball from Davis and his partner at number four, Bill Allis, by a 3-1 count.
