Made of a glass-silk polyester, the U24 weighs only 485 Ibs., and its four six-volt batteries drive it at about five knots on the surface, slightly faster under water. The U24 can dive as deep as 98 ft., is equipped with an oxygen supply and an air-washing system that allows submersion for eight hours at a time.
