Harvard entered the fray with a seemingly grim determination to win and rearly kept pace with the sharpshooters from Dartmouth scoring 15 points to their opponent's 20 in the first period. As the second half started, Fesler's men put on a flashy rally which netted three baskets in quick succession and put Harvard ahead 21 to 20.
