...appalled by the superficial character of "A Thursday in November." Can't our reasons for thanks be chosen on a higher spiritual level before being put into the form of a Litany? Replete with its discussion of academic freedom, the play moves along easily until the final scene. The professor has been accused of "agitating the mentality of his students;" Miss George claims that this is good, but the bishop is afraid. A scheme to bring pressure upon the bishop has been plotted by Miss George, and, as the results appear, she hovers over them like a mother hen. Here the important element of anxiety is overplayed...
