Official word has been received by President Lowell from the French Embassy at Washington to the effect that Captain Amann, who has been detailed as Professor of Military Sciences at the University, will be recalled and assigned to one of the army camps. Another communication received yesterday, however, announces that the work of the French Military Mission at Harvard will be continued throughout the year by Lieutenant Colonel Azan and Lieutenant Andre Morize. Born at Paris in 1884 of Alsatian parents who had removed to French Territory after the Franco-Prussian War in 1870, Captain Amann was educated at the University of Paris, first in the Lycee Montaign and later in the Lycee Louis le Grand. Leaving the University at the age of 16, he entered the leather business and became connected with the Paris branch of an American leather concern.
