...playing of Yale against Holy Cross on the following Saturday was a distinct disappointment to all followers of the blue eleven, the game being marked by frequent fumbles and generally ragged playing. A week of good hard practice under Tom Shevlin seemed to be of no avail and the eleven played to a no score tie with the University of Maine. The chief weakness lay in the backfield which was far below expectations, while the line, although it held the Maine eleven scoreless showed that great improvement was also necessary in this department. ...Philosophy of Senior Smokers is too involved and varying from year to year to be discussed here; suffice it to say that their purpose of bringing the class together semi-occasionally during its last year in College is a worthy one. Where classes are large, the chances for frequent meetings of the members are small. The University dual cross-country run will be held on November 8 as scheduled...

Realizing that the drop-kick will probably be of much need to the Harvard team in the coming games, the coaching staff is developing this method of scoring for more efficient and more frequent use. Late yesterday afternoon a team composed of University players and substitutes, lined up against the seconds for twenty minutes, in order to allow Brickley and Logan to test their drop-kicks. Brickley booted the ball from the 35-yard line straight over the bar five times out of seven attempts. Logan's attempts were not so successful, as he scored only one out of five...

...thing we should like to hear at the Stadium this afternoon: namely, more frequent cheers of the same loud and spirited sort as we had last week. Several men who were on the field and side lines last Saturday have remarked that the cheering was splendid as far as it went and that it promised well for the big games. They ask for just a little more of it, and we are sure that a word to the cheer leaders in enough...
