...manufacturers' sales rose $1.1 billion, to $26.3 billion. New orders to manufacturers also climbed $1.3 billion to $26.3 billion. Meantime, the rate of inventory liquidation slowed considerably, a sign that the day is near when manufacturers and retailers will stop living off the shelf, start replenishing stocks with fresh orders.
