Prior to the Crimson tally, the name of The Game had been defense. The Harvard backfield played remarkably well given the frigid field conditions. Defenders Stefi Baum, Sally Kingsberg, and Kathy Batter shut down the Yale offense, allowing only four shots in the game and none in the second half...

...bizarre and motley flotilla played tag last week in the frigid northern waters off Britain's Orkney Islands. Leading the chase was the 120-ft, red-and-white-hulled vessel Kvitungen, carrying six expert Norwegian seal hunters to and fro between half a dozen uninhabited islands. Snapping at their heels was the 500-ton trawler Rainbow Warrior, crewed by 14 militant ecologists. Bringing up the rear were three boatloads of eager journalists, with reinforcements overhead in helicopters and light aircraft. All of them take their lumps at least once, with almost everyone getting it or dishing it out in the screamingly funny, bangup ending...

Instead one wades deeper into ever shallowing waters. The beach house belongs to a fragile and frigid family: Dad (E.G. Marshall) is preoccupied with his lawyering; Mom (Geraldine Page) is round the bend for causes never fully explained, but presumably having to do with everybody's failure to talk and touch with any real warmth. Their three daughters are a successful poet (Diane Keaton) married to a novelist who boozes because her reviews are better than his; an actress (Kristin Griffith) who can only get parts on TV; and a young woman (Marybeth Hurt) with the spirit...
