...their Ivory Towers in the late '60s and forced to come to grips with difficult problems. The fact that many members of the academy acquiesced in the activities of a certain senator from Wisconsin a decade earlier, and failed to reassess their roles in society when faced with a frontal assault on academic freedom, shows that the "multiversity" had to be shaken from below to lessen its rigidity. The university-as-fortress had bred a state-of-siege mentality; thus Nathan Pusey called in the police...

...invasion plan is the result of a compromise within Prime Minister Thatcher's five-member war cabinet. According to top-level British sources, Thatcher herself favors a frontal assault on Port Stanley, currently the Argentine strongpoint. She has also considered a British air strike against Argentina's mainland airbases. But the more cautious members of her inner circle, notably Foreign Secretary Pym and Deputy Prime Minister William Whitelaw, are anxious to keep the avenues for a diplomatic solution open to the very end. DUCK YOU HEAD-LOWLA BRIDGIDA! reads the sign on a Grand Canal ponte, just before one of Friz Freleng's manic critters slams into the lintel at full frontal force. The warning applies also to those attending this compilation of old Warner Bros, cartoon shorts. Beware of low gags, supersonic mayhem, polka-dot undershorts and the occasional smack in the puss-Sylvester J. Pussycat, to be precise. There is much unfettered mirth here from the rest of the Warner menagerie: from Bugs, the Cagney of lagomorphs, who plays Galahad and slickshooter to the splenetic Yosemite...
