...skillfully tightened plot and imaginative details of direction make the pasteboard figures of the original Pericles into fuller, livelier characters. Pericles becomes almost a spoof as a paragon of nobility, rising early to practice his jousting while the other revelers of the night before stagger on stage with crushing hangovers. Dionyza's jealousy becomes a real facet of personality in the slinky character onstage, while in the original it is an awkward device to advance the plot. Sections of the new play are quite comic, but the heroes are never ludicrous. This is a difficult task for any company...
...truth" of a doctrine should not be determined by how well it sticks to orthodoxy or past formulations. The question should be, does this teaching or rite lock people in stupefying bondage? Or does it contribute "to the fuller consciousness, the joy, the maturation and the emancipation...

Surely no one has done more for age than 76-year old Sam Ervin, whose Watergate hearings are a parable of the times. One by one, bright young men who had gone astray filed before the aged...

The Fuller Brushmen of Cambridge expend much energy trying to foist upon undergraduates class rings, their linen service and for those so inclined, bartending classes...
...Brothers. Sources say they were stunning at the Glen. It's for sure that they're as good as they were with Duane; the addition of Chuck Leavell on keyboards is genius. He doesn't actually replace Duane, but it's a nuance of direction, meaning the sound is fuller, as well as differentiated. They can do much more, onstage and in the studio. Their new album is a joy (look for a review on Tuesday), as well as a good sized stride away from their blues base. It's a cinch they shouldn't be missed...
