...next meeting of the Memorial Society the question of the disposal of the "Old Bell" fund will be finally settled. It is practically decided that the purchase of the bell would be a worthless expenditure, and all subscribers who do not wish to give for any other purpose will have a chance to be refunded by the society. The price set by the Corporation is $100, which would necessitate another subscription before the purchase could be made...
...those of us who subscribed for it have not received accurate information as to how the matter stands at present. If it is true, as has been suggested, that the bell is not really an old one, would it not be better for the Memorial Society to present the fund to the Union some other College organization rather than spend it on a useless relic of no value? Probably all of those who subscribed for the bell would be willing to have the money used for some other purpose, but there are doubtless many others besides myself who would like...
