...fuss over this particular mosquito's mating call? First off, the findings, published in the Jan. 9 issue of the journal Science, dispel a few former assumptions about A. aegypti's behavior: that the female is deaf and a passive participant in the mating ritual and that the male cannot hear frequencies above 1,000 Hz. In fact, the Cornell researchers have established that both the male and female of this subtropical species can detect frequencies as high as 2,000 Hz and that they are equal participants in the courtship process...
...where people are under the influence of alcohol and wearing little or no clothing. I've seen other groups where there are offensive topics about women. Breast-feeding has nothing to do with sex and I just get so confused [as to] why people make such a big fuss about it. We're just using our breasts for what they evolved...
...Iran, where cheerless clerics have inveighed against everything from poodles to the pants-tucked-into-boots look, yoga is popular enough to warrant its own magazines and the government has made no fuss (but thanks for bringing it to their attention, muftis of Malaysia!). "The Fontainebleau made Miami Beach." That's not hyperbole. Even more than the art deco splendor of Ocean Drive, Lapidus' wavy edifice and quirky interior design - the Stairway to Nowhere, the Swiss Cheese Wall - define Miami the way the Plaza once epitomized New York and the Ritz embodies Paris...
...What was all the fuss about? An hour-long raunch fest that was part slapstick comedy, part carnal carnival: it's a burlesque routine (Reems as a doctor, wisecracking like Groucho Marx) wrapped around a sideshow freak stunt (Lovelace's bedroom trick of controlling her gag reflex so she could perform glottal fellatio - a glo-job). "You had to be there," he said in Inside Deep Throat. "I'm thrilled that I was there. And I thank God I had a camera." Damiano gave this movie the tone of a mildly bright comedy, with an underscoring full of broadly ironic...
