Arleigh Burke's promotion was deserved; it was also wise. It firmed the revolters' increasing respect for "Fuzz" Sherman, who had been moved in over them to put the Navy back on an even keel. "This is a dark day for the Navy," one rebel had said when Sherman was appointed. Last week the same officer jerked his thumb in the direction of Sherman's office in the Pentagon, said: "That guy is going to town. The Navy hasn't seen anything like him in a long time...
...Seventh Day Adventist Church arrived in New York City last week for his first look at a strange land; Pastor Salau is a missionary among his own people of the Solomon Islands. Above his grave, calm face his hair stood straight up in a shock of black fuzz; he was dressed in a blue tweed jacket and blue woolen skirt with red belt, black oxfords and black, knee-length stockings. And her last-minute attempt to knit the son's tragedy to the world situation is a piece of synthetic, Freudian chop-logic as far-fetched as saying that a tug on an umbilical cord will ultimately release...
...action of the climactic murder scene, with Mother Danforth's family gathered around the Christmas tree, is powerfully done, without a trace of fuzz on the pen or fog in the eye. Yet Miss Bolton's is a lyric, not a dramatic talent. Whenever she tries to speak through a character who is not her own kind and her own sex, she loses her firm tone of voice. But, speaking for herself, Author Bolton has much to say. She says it in a style which Mary Britton Miller should have tried sooner...
