Usage:

Although neither team scored in the twenty minute scrimmage between the University and second elevens yesterday afternoon, the former showed up very poorly. Their line was not able to withstand the attack of the second's backs, and on the offensive they could not gain consistently. The second once rushed the ball to the University's 18-yard line, after gaining steadily through guard and centre from the 45-yard line. On the 18-yard line, however, the University held, and then worked the ball down to the second's 4-yard line. Here the second held...

...first team's line was weak in holding on punts, and as a result some of Burr's and Starr's frequent kicks were blocked, generally by Osborne. Neither team seemed able to gain around the opposing ends. Starr and Rand were usually thrown for losses on right end plays by Morse or Osborne, and the second halfbacks could not gain around Forster or Macdonald. White played an excellent game for the second, and their steady gains through guard and centre were due to his hard line-bucking. Towards the end of the scrimmage Fish and Inches changed places...

...whole the work of the University team was not very encouraging. They kept the ball in the second's half of the field until just before the touchdown was made, but were unable to gain consistently through the second's line, and the long end runs were due chiefly to the individual brilliancy of Starr. On the other hand, the second was unable to gain regularly through the University's defense, there being but one time when any steady gains were made. Gilder played a very fast game for the second and made some clever end runs. In fact...

...Milton Academy, at Milton yesterday afternoon in a closely-played game by the score of 6 to 0. The showing of the Seniors was good, in view of the fact that it was their first scrimmage of the year. As was natural, Harvard fumbled frequently, but never failed to gain first down. Milton, on the other hand, gained first down only once, which was the result of a forward pass. The work of Russell, Plumb and Haskell of the Senior team was especially good. A Senior training table will be started at Memorial Hall the end of the week...

Harvard won the toss and received the kick-off. Newhall returned the kick, taking the Navy by surprise. Burr recovered the ball and ran to the 30-yard line for a total gain of 70 yards. A penalty for holding then put the ball back 15 yards and Newhall made an onside kick which the Navy secured. Harvard got the ball again, and Burr caught Newhall's forward pass, running it to the 15-yard line. Here Harvard was held for downs on line plays. Douglass punted on the first down. Newhall tried a forward pass from Annapolis' 45-yard...
