...Winner. In 1926 Breeder Woodward mated the famed French racehorse, Sir Gallahad III (whom he and three other U. S. turfmen? had imported for $125,000 the year before), with his rugged broodmare Marguerite, bought as a yearling at Saratoga in 1921. Their foal, a bay colt named Gallant Fox, developed, after a mediocre season as a two-year-old, into one of the great racehorses of all time.
