...practice of the eleven yesterday was marked by strong defensive work on the part of the line-men, and by brilliant long runs by the backs. The steady line-bucking which has been the plan of attack in all the practice games was given up for end plays. Against the weak ends of the second eleven they were very effective. Eaton, who has not been able to play since the Williams game, was allowed to play a short time, but soon gave place to J. Lawrence. Donald also played left tackle in the second half and greatly strengthened the line...
...back-field Sawin was the main reliance of the team. After playing every position behind the line this season, he made a success at halfback on Saturday. Besides his running with the ball, which scored the first touchdown of the game, his punts were long and true...
...first game of the Freshman eleven, which was played with Exeter on Soldiers Field, Saturday afternoon, resulted in a tie, neither side being able to score. The Freshmen played a mediocre game. They tackled well, but fumbled a great deal and ran too high. Only once, in the second half, did it seem likely that they would score, but the ball was lost and Brill quickly punted it out of danger. Exeter, on the other hand, played a sharp and fast game, but missed the chance to score by attempting four goals from the field, which were all unsuccessful...

...Yale eleven defeated the Dartmouth team at Newton on Saturday by the score of 12 to 0. The game was hard fought from start to finish. Both teams were crippled because several of the best players were prevented by injuries from taking part in the game. Yale was particularly weak on the left side of the line, and it was at this point that Dartmouth directed most of her successful plays. The tackles were also below the Yale standard. Yale depended on line bucking formations, directed at the centre and tackles, but tried no end plays throughout the game...
