Changing fonts, for example, was no simple matter of highlighting text and selecting "Garamond." Changing fonts on a typesetter literally meant exchanging fonts--lifting up the cover, detaching the "Helvetica" strip from the large revolving drum inside and replacing it with "Garamond."
