...with Germaine Greer-if only with a ten-foot pole." In the first column, Lawyer Peter Friedman tells how his circle benefits from the presence of insect parts in food: "Instead of complaining, we're collecting the fragments and painstakingly assembling them into whole insects." New Yorker Writer Garrison Keillor parodies speed-reading courses and concludes: "You are now able to read at the amazing rate of 8,000 words per minute, which means that you should have finished reading this already." Promptly at 5 a.m. the soldiers moved off. The first column, on foot, made its way up a little-used Land Rover track through the swamps, waded across the Kagera River, and overwhelmed a company-sized Ugandan garrison near the village of Kyebe. Then, climbing aboard the garrison's trucks and Jeeps, it cut northwest to the town of Sanje. Thus, within less than 24 hours last week, the exiles' best hopes of ousting Amin...
...Vallee. The location: a trailer park. Vallee was only moderately pleased by the honor. "I need that street about like I need another nose," he said. Then he added a four-letter expletive that one would never have expected to hear from Rudy Vallee. With Candace Mossier Garrison, femme fatale is not an idle phrase. After her first marriage ended in divorce, her second, to Millionaire Jacques Mossier, ended in murder. Candy was acquitted of the deed, in a lurid trial featuring her affair with her young nephew and codefendant, Mel Powers. Last week the butler found her third husband...
