...three-year project to track Colorado house churching. The Southern Baptist Convention, with more standard-church pew sitters than any other Protestant group, has commissioned its own poll and experimented in planting hundreds of its own house churches. Allan Karr, a professor at the Rocky Mountain campus of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary who is involved in the poll, guesses that three out of 10 churches founded today are simple and that their individual odds for survival are better than those of the other seven. House churches are not known for denominational loyalty. That doesn't bother Karr, however...

While many girls get off at Johnston Gate, no obvious Jezebels are among them. When the bus reaches its Beacon Street stop, a mass exodus occurs and Wellesley girls are partially replaced by MIT boys. A junior from MIT slides into the empty seat next to me and strikes up a conversation. We talk about his fraternity, his Wellesley ex, and our mediocre musical ability. Robert Toscano initially seems surprised to find out that I do not go to Wellesley, but aside from comparing workloads, the tone of the conversation remains the same, changing neither for the better...

...justice, but also Pamela Pitzer Willeford, the ambassador to Switzerland. Tobin died in October, so his wife Anne Legendre Armstrong, a former ambassador to Britain and a longtime Cheney friend, played host. For all that, Armstrong Ranch is countrified rather than ostentatious. At the entrance is a utilitarian "bumper" gate, so named because you nudge it open with your vehicle. Guests usually stay in wooden ranch dwellings near the main house, which are furnished with antiques but few frills...

...PETERS OUT BODE MILLER wasn't talking again, which is a record of sorts for a guy who has a hard time stopping his gums from flapping. Of course, it would have been difficult to speak following last Saturday's super-G, after he almost swallowed a flag gate that took him out of the race. That made Miller 0 for 3 in the skiing speed events of the Games' first week. Coming out of a tight turn, Miller collided face first with a double gate and veered wildly off course, flying down on his right ski before regaining control...
