...have read a story of modern society life that is not actually coarse with the grewsome details of an illicit love; at last I have found an author who, with all the opportunity in the world, refuses to revel in blasphemy and obscenity. ...Grace Dunmore is represented as a masterful woman who cannot get along with only one husband. She sees her latest flame, Bobby Brandon, leading a gay night life and ignoring her. Jealous, she gets a Doctor to convince Brandon he is in a serious condition of health, and that he must settle down and keep better hours. She sends for Brandon's nephew, together with the latter's fiancee and her mother, to come from Kamm's Corners, and keep Bobby out of mischief. They come, but instead of converting Bobby to family life they are all converted...
