Fasulo took off at 5:15 p.m. from Locarno Airport heading to Linate Airport on the outskirts of Milan. Nearly 30 minutes later he radioed the Linate tower saying that he had minor landing gear problems and asked for clearance as he approached from the north. But he ignored subsequent directions from the tower to circle near the airstrip and suddenly turned westward toward downtown. Moments later his altitude dropped suddenly and the plane pierced the building in a perfectly horizontal position, according to witnesses. The day after the crash, one of Fasulo's two sons was quoted...
...crashed into the 30-story Pirelli tower in the center of Milan, many feared a repeat of Sept. 11. Initial investigations revealed that minutes before the crash, 67-year-old Luigi-Gino Fasulo, pilot of the four-seater tourist plane, had radioed air traffic control that he had landing-gear problems. The band rushed around between instruments, but the effect was gimmicky, and the breakneck shifts from R&B to thrashing rock chords were more disorienting than exhilarating...
...service providers are more aggressive. EarthLink sells 2Wire hubs to its existing broadband customers, charging $100 for the wired version, $250 for wireless. Networking cards for each PC are $50. Customers must install the gear, but for $9.95 a month they get unlimited phone-based technical support and a promise that no matter what the trouble is--poor network connection, faulty router--EarthLink won't pass the buck. Gateway, a PC manufacturer that also sells broadband services and networking equipment, goes a step further: for $399, it will send a technician to your house to install the equipment and configure...
