Tumbleweeds is a real rarity--an intelligent, women-focused film that tells a great story, with some even greater performances. Don't let this month's big releases keep you away from this indie gem, and a few of this year's best performances...
...little effect. Canada's U.N. ambassador, Robert Fowler, head of the Angolan sanctions committee, now has two panels of experts investigating UNITA's sanctions-busting operations and searching for a way to plug the embargo's holes. Fowler plans to put expert monitors in key trading centers to identify gems that could emanate from UNITA-held areas. The band's folk-based yearnings, so prominent on III, are almost ignored throughout. In general, their second and third albums are much more scarcely...

The storyline, in which Chris O'Donnell inherits a lot of money on condition that he get married within 24 hours, is a remake of a 1925 Buster Keaton silent gem called Seven Chances. The put-upon bachelor first botches things with his steady girlfriend, then must propose to everyone he knows until a newspaper story phoned in by his friend brings a stampede of bridegowned fortune-seekers chasing him through town...
