...between architecture and painting, in which both come out badly maimed," declared Art Critic John Canaday on Page One of the New York Times. "The most beautiful building in America," retorted Critic Emily Genauer in the New York Herald Tribune. "A building that should be put in a museum to show how mad the 20th Century is," editorialized the New York Daily Mirror... Thus in a babel of discord, and six months after his death, Frank Lloyd Wright's last major work, the $3,000,000 Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum...opened to the public last week... What first visitors...

...Trib has a fresh, modern look, and its newsroom is equipped with the latest in computer terminals, on which copy is fitted and transmitted to its New Jersey printing plant. The slim editorial staff of 77 includes two Pulitzer prizewinners, Managing Editor Fred Sparks and Art Critic Emily Genauer. Hemorrhaging Angel. In 1942, Choreographer Leonide Massine, a fellow Russian, got him to design costumes and sets for the New York Ballet Theater's production of Aleko. Critic Emily Genauer recalls walking in on the two while they were trying to explore the project. Tchaikovsky's trumpets blared over a record player, while Massine dragged Chagall around the room in an unbelievable pas de deux,. Yet somehow the collaboration worked. The premiere, which took place in Mexico in 1942, was a smash success...
