...brand new names for their offsprings and my older brother and I have gotten sick of seeing ourselves Hendrik-van-Loon-Jr.'ed so I hope you won't mind my putting this straight. My brother, in America, is Henry Bowditch van Loon and I am Willem Gerard van Loon. On the dancing stage I leave off the van Loon as I don't believe in family parties. As to the Iragic parental groan and the reference to the great and understanding liberty Otto Kahn granted his son. that is all a lot of h0013r. Is America...

...expected, Anthony Herman Gerard ("Tony") Fokker resigned last week as director of engineering of General Aviation Corp. (General Motors subsidiary) and its subsidiary Fokker Aircraft Corp. of America (TIME, July 13). Contrary to precedent set by General Motors in retaining the trade names of automobile builders (e.g: Buick, Olds) Designer Fokker took with him the right to his name on aircraft. With it he will organize International Fokker Corp., combining Fokker interests the world over, with the Dutch Fokker Aircraft Co. as nucleus. If it earns $5, he will get 20,000 shares of stock. If the earnings exceed $6, he will be given another...

...Gerard Barnes Lambert, son of the founder of Lambert Pharmacal Co. and its onetime president (1923-28), was made president of Gillette Safety Razor Co., succeeding Henry Jaques Gaisman who becomes chairman. Mr. Gaisman has apparently worked his way to dominance in Gillette since the merger with Auto Strop of which he was chairman, for John Edward Aldred, previously chairman and one of the premerger Gillette group, last week resigned. Mr. Lambert's election was a surprise, for since leaving Lambert Co. he has done nothing to indicate he cared to enter the business of razor-making. His interests have...
