...their catch was--the CIA had given them a heads-up that he might be in the area--the Kurdish officials snapped a digital mug shot of the traveler and e-mailed it to their American intelligence contacts. The confirmation came back quickly: the Kurds had nabbed Hassan Ghul, one of the key al-Qaeda operatives still on the run. "When Washington heard we had him," said a Kurdish official in Baghdad, "they were doing cartwheels...

Fresh arrests of al-Qaeda members in Iraq support the claim that the terrorist group is attempting to stir up even more trouble in the U.S.-occupied country. Hasan Ghul was captured on Friday by Kurdish forces in Northern Iraq after they were tipped off by the CIA, a U.S. official said. He is now in U.S. custody. Looters stole a bicycle and a motorbike from CNN's office here. They apparently knocked the wall down at the back. Some of Sherzai's men also stole the car of our fixer. His brother tried to stop them and said, "I want a receipt from Ghul Agha for it." They said, "O.K. Get in the car, and come with us." They didn't go far before a man turned a gun on him and said, "Do you really want a receipt?" The brother sensibly replied, "No, I don't think I do," and then got out. That...
